Random pictures since school began

I have been absolutely terrible about keeping up with the blog. No free time. Potty training (STILL). Work. Kids. House. Produce. Working out. Blah, blah, blah!

Daddy and Summer being silly and "napping" in the hall.
Garrett with one of his many creations
And a robot he wants to enter in the Lego Club Jr. Contest this month.
Being silly with the cute hat they made at school for Patriot's Day.
Dress up one day shortly before school started.

Other random bits:
So ready for the fall TV season lineup to start. We booted netflix for their price hike. On our lineup for the fall--Castle, Bones, Psych, Survivor.

I finished reading Harry Potter series. Brad's started the books too. Garrett's last book was Goblet of Fire, I want him to wait a while to read the last three because are so much darker and take on more grown-up stuff than the earlier books. We're watching them.

The new trailer for Breaking Dawn is out and I'm so excited in the worst nerdy way. Only 2 months left to wait! I think I'll be re-reading the books again.

I FINALLY entered my first half marathon. Will be running the Miami Beach 13.1 in April. So stoked, but have a long way to go since I haven't been running much because of the heat.

Garrett is entered in flag football, which starts on Saturday. It should be fun. Brad is coaching his team. It may be interesting--its 5 players for team and the age range is from 5-7 years. Garrett is by far the youngest on his team and the oldest player will be 8 (!!) in November.

Summer is THREE on Sunday, which I can't believe. Grandma and Grandpa Compton are coming this afternoon, so we're looking forward to that.

I'm going to start prepping for the GRE so that I can test sometime either this fall or in the spring. We have a great tuition remission program through school, so once both kids are in school I'm going to work on a Masters degree--something I've wanted to do for a long time but have had to put off for obvious reasons.

Fashion, art and chilling

Its been a week of HIGH FASHION here.

Summer's combo of mommy's socks and mis-matched crocs:

And Garrett's "It's COLD outside!" (it was mid 60s and breezy) outfit:

Not much to report this week, we've been rather lazy because we're all recouperating from our Disney trip. We found an animated Iron Man series on Netflix so we spend out afternoons watching a couple of those because they are actually decent and we're all enjoying them. Add in work, cooking, and homework and our days are pretty much full. Summer and I went to the park and library while Garrett was at school yesterday-our effort to conserve gas includes not coming home after dropping him off 1-2x a week.

Garrett has been building various flying contraptions with the legos.
And Summer has enjoyed laying around on the couch while we watch TV.
Here is a picture Garrett drew last week--the fire truck is driving on a road. I love it, so original. He's getting sooo big.

Our major item of the week has been school stress--we're on the waiting list at 2 of the 4 schools we applied for. The other 2 haven't done their lotteries yet. I've done well about not freaking out about the school situation until this week, but reached maximum overload this week. We actually started looking at private school, just in case nothing else works out. Joy. The theme of this week is politics and government and the entire "system" just blows. But wherever we end up is where we were meant to be. Or so I keep telling myself.

Weekend will be more of the same (work) plus a baby shower for my friend Leanne. Girl time! :-)

Christmas 2010

This post is obviously going to be a little picture heavy.

First up - Christmas prep:
Basket for Garrett's teacher on the last day of school
Summer crushing candy canes to make peppermint cake ball pops:

Summer enjoying cake balls:

Finished product, which went to some of our friends :-)

Two days before Christmas, we FINALLY got a Wii (Thanks Grandma Becky!). Brad and I tested it out that night, and Garrett got to give it a try on Christmas Eve. Mario Kart = big hit!
Ginger bread house construction. I wasn't very good at this, and half of the roof fell off. Next time I think I'll use super glue!
But the kids sure had a fabulous time decorating:
Garrett selected goodies for Santa and dictated a letter, then signed his own name.

No wonder Santa is so fat!
After the kids were in bed, Santa's elves delivered the other big goodie:

We put the empty box in the living room and the actual car in the garage. I have a very cute video to upload of Garrett discovering what Santa had left, but I need to find MORE time to upload that.

Christmas morning
Garrett was up way before Summer was. No surprise there.
Happy boy got most of thing things from his Christmas list.

Summer got up and opened her goodies at her own pace. She is in love with the bear she got from my dad (wearing the hat from the Davis clan)

Kisses for "Bear"
Slowly unwrapping her gifts :-)

Giving Potato Head Jr. hugs (Thanks Aunt Stephie!)
Not sure I have taken a picture of the tree in all its glory!
Tea set = HUGE HIT! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa C!
How come my hubby looks handsome on Christmas morning and I look like THIS? Am I just a better photographer, or what? :-)

And then we spent lots of time outside enjoying the car :-)

For dinner, we had my friend Glori and her family over. The men hit it off, the kids had a blast, and the only picture I took was of the dessert tray.
Just a few more, almost done!! Lego fun and dressup.

And that, folks is Christmas 2010 in pictures, and a few sparse words. Absolutely the best Christmas ever.
